Conditional Formatting & DataWrapper

Weather in Takoma Park, Maryland from October 19 to 26.

I looked at the hourly temperature of my hometown in Maryland over the past week. I was really surprised to see that there was a few days where the temperature was almost 80ºF, in October. It definitely concerns me that the temperature is so warm in Maryland right now, and deep down I know that this is a small sign of climate change.

I really like using color and gradients to visualize data because I think color is so important in telling a story and evoking emotion. By using the color conditional formatting suddenly the spreadsheet isn’t just a bunch of tiny numbers and characters; I now have an image communicating the temperature in far more efficient way. I’m also a very visual learner and color is a really nice way to interpret the data I have in front of me.

DataWrapper

I prefer using Datawrapper much more than Flourish because of your ability to change the colors and design the chart more. Flourish is nice because it gives you so many options, but is less user friendly and design oriented than Datawrapper.
